Got SPIT on at Quantum Cafe!

Image
It was a night of great food and intelligent comedy thanks to SPIT ( Silly People's Improv Theater ). To give everyone a brief background, SPIT is Manila's premiere improvisational theater troupe, formed in 2002 by actor Gabe Mercado (Da Pulis vocalist, Eto na ang Susunod na Kabanata cast, Yakult's Ok ka ba tyan? among others) and the first Asian group that performed at the Los Angeles Improv Festival in 2004. SPIT is known for their intelligent, interactive, classy and immersive improv  brand of comedy and have been making people laugh their hearts out with their hilarious jokes, impromptu remarks and witty comments. Forget about the usual comedy bar type of entertainment as SPIT offers so much more as they are known for their creative, unique and entertaining games that lets the crowd participate from their seats. Although SPIT relies mostly on the crowd interaction to be able to pull off a great show, each experience is uniquely different from the rest, and once yo

Centris Walk

Image
Located conveniently near Eton Centris and MRT Quezon Avenue station, Centris Walk is poised to be the next dining, lifestyle and entertainment capital of the metropolis. Situated at the gateway of Quezon City's emerging Triangle Park Central Business district, Centris Walk is to be a mecca for foodies, bar hoppers and party people. The place itself is set against a backdrop of lush landscapes, covered walks, and pedestrian friendly promenades. For those who love good food, Centris Walk already have several establishments that caters to varying tastes, among them are Claw Daddy, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Pancake House, Asya, My Thai, Pho Hoa, Jack's Loft, Zong, Tutti Frutti and Yang Chow Dimsum. During the night, Centris Walk comes alive with the glow of these mushroom shaped lighted pods that change colors every so often. One can bask in the glow of these "lights" while having dinner or drinks. Centris Walk also hosts two weekend markets - a perfect place

Distrito is Back!

Image
Can't go to Robinson's Pioneer, the Fort or Ortigas Center since they are too far? Fret no more! Distrito is back once again to cater your late night cravings! It offers a wide selection of mouth-watering food, great tasting snacks, meals, pastries, desserts and more from the best home chefs, bakers and restaurants from around Makati. Distrito is from the same organizers that brought the Mercato Centrale. It opens Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 9:00 PM to 3:00 AM. We decided to check it out after our Madagascar movie trip at Greenbelt since it is pretty near. And we were not disappointed. Aside from the great food choices, we also enjoyed the Live Acoustic performance (I forgot the name of the singer), Free Wi-Fi and Free Freshly Brewed Coffee (for Makati Med Employees and call center folks alike, although it is good while supplies last). Distrito is located in the Amorsolo parking lot (beside Makati medical center) along the corners of Ayala Avenue, Armosolo a

Sagada Adventure

Image
Dubbed as the Shangrila of the North, Sagada is famous for its panoramic views, glorious caves, hanging coffins, magnificent rice terraces, spectacular water falls and lush forests that are mostly pine and moss. There are a lot of places to see and things to do in Sagada, sufficient enough to say that a weekend trip won't really mean you've "been to" Sagada. There are several routes to take to explore this nature's haven. Each of them takes you to different places altogether. Trips can be arranged from the local tourism office where you can get your guides as well. Spelunking at Sumaging Cave As they say, a visit to Sagada would be incomplete without a trip to the "Big Cave". Sumaging contains a lot of chambers that can be explored, as well as mini-waterfalls and natural pools. With only the light of the kerosene lamp to show the way, we braved Sumaging cave along with our tour guide. The cave has three parts - the muddy first part, (accord

Barlig, a place where time stands still...

Image
If you are looking for an off-the-beaten-path nature trip, this is for you. Barlig is a rarely visited remote town up North (belonging to Mountain Province) that overflows with natural wonders. The town, although surrounded by lush forests and mountains, rarely gets visitors probably because of the travel time (usually 13-14 hours) and the road conditions which are highly inaccessible during the rainy season. On the brighter side, this difficulty has helped protect the town from exploitation. From Bontoc to Barlig, we passed through elevated zigzag roads which are narrow and steep. If you have the chance, it is best to sit on the roof of the jeepney to enjoy the view. Don't forget to bring a jacket as it is freezing up there even in summer, as the town is predominantly made up of dense forests with trees covered in moss. Expect a temperature drop (sometimes up to 6-7 degrees) upon entering the misty boundaries of Barlig. After about 2 hours of grueling trip, we

How it all began

Image
We met at Banaue, specifically during “van” ride. Who would have thought that the casual acquaintance, would eventually blossom into a friendship. Khendz and her “little” sister JM were on their way to Sagada while we (Mark, Norgz and I) were travelling for Bontoc en route to Barlig. Started with a casual chat, and then exchange of travel itineraries, few fun moments taking pictures at the stop over and then off to a casual goodbye. Eventually, as fate would have it, our Barlig trip didn’t turn out to be exactly what we planned (thanks to the rain) so we decided to hit Sagada and accidentally bumped into the two gorgeous ladies again. Exchanged Facebook accounts, and said our farewells again. And the rest, as they normally say, is history. Through Facebook chat, we got to know each other a little better, went out a couple of times, and planned another travel, this time together. This is the chronicle of our travels, sometimes together, sometimes by ourselves, it will also include
