Puerto Princesa Subterranean Underground River

WELCOME!

It was a perfect time of the day when we went to see and experienced with a  boat ride inside this world-renowned Puerto Princesa Subterranean Underground River. The sun was at it's fullest giving color and light to canopies, animals, sands, karst mountains and bodies of waters.

Karst Mountains covered by vegetation
Karst Mountain

We had a 1 1/2 to almost 2 hour drive from Liberty Pension Park to Sabang. While we're on this van ride,Our ever bubbly-wacky tour guide "Ces" gives some trivia about our destination, she even also played a short clip about some fascinating facts of  about this New7 Wonders of Nature. Our main stop is Sabang wharf where extraction point of  all tourist going to river park. It also took 20 minutes from Sabang to the site where the LGU's who takes care of the orderliness of the said river park, where tourist needs to register, and will gear up for the said cave trip. The vegetation of the site is still dense I can see lots of greens, I even recognized "Bitaog trees" which I can say really healthy and humongous. the forest floor is filled with leaves and it's wet. As we walk I happened to see a monkey walking as if he is used to see people. While waiting for our turn we never miss any chance in taking pictures.Normally, the locale have photographers that will take pictures of you or your group and will sell it later for a cost of P200. But who needs that when we already have our own cameras.

It's our ride.

As the guide said the  normal river tour will only cover 1.2 kilometers because there are some entry points where the boats is not passable and  you need to get another special permits which normally given to explorers, conducting a study or if you're having a documentary.

                                                                            Grand Entrance

Water is not clear because it's brackish.

As you get near to the entrance of the cave you will first smell the concentrated aroma of bat's feces and some other species lurking and living inside the cave. It is very dark and there are thousands of bats and swallows living in the cave. The tour guide would crack a joke by saying "Not all water that drips from above is water, So close your mouth!".
The close-encounter took only 45 minutes maximum to 1 hour.Which I think very "bitin" and would leave you say I want more!.

Great formations of Stalactites and Stalagmites can be witnessed inside this protected area. I can recollect and seen formations like a woman's butt (which the tour guide would say it's from Sharon Stone", when you get into the biggest part of the cave which they call it "The Cathedral",very spacious, you will recognize the "Holy Family" -like formation. and etc.
Here are some of the photos inside the cave.

"Corn-like formation"

other group
                                                                    "T-rex  like formation"
                                                                           "Giant mushroom"
"The only light you will see inside the cave."

No wonder it became victorious and proud to be New7 Wonders of Nature because of it's diverse ecosystem and Stalactites and Stalagmites that was formed and carved by the hands of time (millions of years).

Tips:

1. Always pay attention to whatever instructions given by your tour guide.
2. Do not bring any plastics because it will attract the monkeys.
3.It is always convenient to bring your own camera.
